I am planning on purchasing some books of eBay but I am not really sure who writes good romance novels. Who do you like?

One writer who has come and then gone completely disappeared is Laurie McBain. I always found her romance novels to be an enjoyable read.

Another one that comes to mind is Kathleen Woodiwiss, some of her books, especially her older work is very good. Other I can suggest are: Johanna Lindsey and Elizabeth Lowell

EDIT: McBains books can also be purchased through Amazon, the reviews of her work are all 4 1/2 to 5 star. You won’t be disappointed

Well it’s not really my subject - but female friends tell me Jodi Picoult is very good.

I agree with Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, Johanna Lindsey and Elizabeth Lowell.

I love Mary Jo Putney’s novels.

Catherine Coulter’s novels are excellent. I especially her historical novels set in the 1800s and her FBI mystery series.

I also enjoy Amanda Quick’s novels set in the 1800s England (that’s a pseudonym for Jayne Ann Krentz).

Mary Balogh is good and so is Lynn Kurland and Loretta Chase.

    Linda Howard is exceptional.

Jude Deveraux is very good, too.

Linda Lael Miller has written some good ones.

Christina Skye is another good writer. I especially like her Draycott Abbey series.

Nora Roberts is a prolific writer whose stories are usually excellent.

Lavyrle Spencer, though retired, wrote some truly good and very sexy novels.

Dorothy Garlock writes a lot of romantic novels set in America.

Some other good to very good writers include Diana Gabaldon (Outlander series which is a time travel); Shannon Drake; Sandra Brown; Elaine Coffman; Meagan McKinney; Stef Ann Holm; Constance O’Day-Flannery (mostly time travel); Jo Beverley; Robin Lee Hatcher; Rebecca Brandewyne and Shelly Thacker (among others).

    Happy reading!

Diana Gabadon: The outlander series. Very action packed historical fiction

That depends on which type of setting you like. Right now, vampire / paranormal romances are the hottest sellers. Try Sherrilyn Kenyon and Christine Feehan.

Then you have your usual contemporary settings. Lori Foster, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Suzanne Brockmann, Jennifer Crusie, and Janet Evanovich are some of the best of those,

Next is historical settings, either US western ones or England regency types. Johanna Lindsey, Dorothy Garlock, Stephanie Laurens, and Lisa Kleypas are hot authors.
